I got my ribless cable (about time) cost me 70bucks for it.
My remote mount a7 800mhz spectra is hooked up to a car battery in the house with a car battery charger on it to always give it power.
When i hook teh programming cable up to the rear DB15 connector, connect the yellow wire to the car battery and the power cable for the spectra then power it on, boot up my programming computer with dos 6.22 and rss 06005 on it i get this problem

1. When i try to read the codeplug the radio keeps reseting into the selfcheck mode and after i see program on the screen for a split second and it pops back into selfcheck. Then i get a error because the radio resets. But sometimes it will read25-50% of the codeplug then get a error

2.I get these error codes 8 and 12. Sometimes its error 8 for a few trys then error 12.

I can transmitt and secive on the radio so im not sure if its a power problem or something during programming. But it sems like the radio is not getting the power it needs to stay on during it on.

Oh and now i have a fail 999
Any ideas of how to make it work?

Iv had a rib box and cable but the box went kerplunk and iv never had problems with any of the ribless cables i have

Start by first going to:

http://www.batlabs.com

and then going to Model Specific Information, second section (mobiles)
and then clicking on SPECTRA. Lots of useful information to be found
there, including this:

FAIL 999
Serial number in the Memory Board and the microcomputer do not match; Radio will not function but will enter test mode.
Replace the Memory Board with the proper one

Ooooook. Somehow i got the radio to read.
Iv got a fail 999 and in RSS 6.5 it will not let me enable zones with my radio model number says it has, and it will not program. Gives me a EEProm versions do not match version conversion is necessary press f2 or f10. hit f2 then i get error 16. software ver do not match.

What can i do to fix these problems?

Using a car battery and charger is a very bad idea. First of all, it's hazardous to charge a car battery in your house. Second, car battery chargers don't put out clean DC voltage, they are usually halfwave rectified AC with no filtering or regulation.. even hooked to a battery you're likely to get a lot of ripple, not healthy for a radio, especially during programming.

What can i do to fix the radio problem?
Iv never had any problems in the last 4 years transmitting or programming any radios with the way i have them setup now.. I went to radio shack to get a power amp but it wouldnt put out the power to transmitt on.. so i took it back and got a bigger one.. same thing. Wouldnt work when transmitting, Hooked it up to a car battery and poof. works.
And the battery is in a small room with windows open
