Ressurecting ASIII from fail 01-82

Post by Radiogeek97 »

Fellas

Well after 8 years of workin on these radios i finally bricked one of my personal radios. I was programming my ASIII with cps version 5.02.00 when the laptops battery died enough to corrupt the codeplug, upon power up the unit displays fail 01/82. I tryied cloning the radio as sombody syggested and short of sending it to the depot are there any tricks i can try? I have a buddy that works for a moto shop that may have lab to un-brick this but i have never had this happen to try the ressurect process. Do you have any suggestions or if anybody can point me to a past post as a "how to" . I looked in the archives but i am so ticked off right now i cant see straight.
As a side note if anybody works on thise on the side that i can send the radio to; if you could PM me that would be great.

If you have an original codeplug, it may take several tries to get it to load, but I was successful in getting an XTS 5000 to load. Sometimes when you to try and load the codeplug, if it does not accept it,you should turn off the radio, disconnect the cable, then try again. Breaking the connection between the radio and the computer is helpful each time.

I played with that thing from 4pm -10p last night and finally i got it to work. I had to clone a codeplug from a different radio same model# (thank god i had it) and it woke up, I then sent the codeplug that it died on back into it and it took  I used it last night for the remaining 2 hours of my shift and it worked well, although i have not tryied it to see if the digital channels work i will try later on. So much for adding a few channels 10 min before rool call !!! :x thanks again!

One more thing not that it matters too much for this crowd but, in despiration I called the systems support group (totally useless) but one thing the guy told me that was interesting was that I could still Depot the radio until jan 1 2008. LOL Last time this unit went i flat rated it for $275.00 I didnt even ask what they would have charged. Well with that being said i guess that parts for these will become more rare as if that wasnt obvious. Time to really start hoarding parts
