Maxtrac help

Hi guys, im looking to power my maxtrac off of the ignition, right now its on constant power...i have a 16 pin connector all ready to go (pin 10 hot lead to back power connector) is there a fuse inside of radio i must disable?? Kevin

did you program the radio for ignition sense?

Yes, cut one end of the green pico fuse on the logic/audio board.

Hello:
You only have to clip one side of the green pico fuse on the logic bd as Will stated .
No programming needed for ignition sense in the Maxtrac.

Are all lower tier radios like this?? IE: Maxtrac, GM, SM, 1225 series....

Remove control head, remove top and bottom plastics. I can't quite remember but I think it's on the bottom side of the radio, towards the back by the accessory plug, there is a little thing that says "cut for ign sense". It's actually located on the circuit board. Someone might have a pic.

Once the Pico Fuse is cut, is it ever possible to use the radio again without the ignition sense function or would the fuse have to be replaced?

Once the fuse is cut you either have to have voltage on the ignition sense pin or replace the fuse for the radio to turn on.
Most of the radio gets it's power through this fuse. Using the ignition sense pin bypasses the fuse, so you then need to use an external 2A fuse.
The pico fuse is pretty easy for a competent tech to replace.
