are the XTL5000 mobiles plagued with the same "leaking caps" as the spectras and astro spectras?

XTL5000 question
think about how to ENCOURAGE Motorola learning safely with GRACE.....NOT condemnation.
Re: XTL5000 question
I would say to give them ten years and ask again
Actually, I'm sure someone who has seen the insides of both will be along shortly to give their opinion, I never really knew why the spectras have the leaky cap problem anyway. Just a massive bad batch?

Re: XTL5000 question
I have, from experience, been PLAGUED with owning Spectras and Astro Spectras with those damn leaky caps. Once they piss that electrolytic juice all over the boards, you had better be quick to clean the board off, lest you get more damage to other components on it. On the XTL I had, I never had that problem with it. I never opened it up, but I would think that Motorola has incorporated newer technology by now in those.
Anyways, Will can fix them pretty nicely. He did up a VHF unit of mine a while back.
