I'm having some trouble with an XTS5k of mine. Whenever I send a page to another radio, and the other radio sends the acknowledge, my radio does not display "Ack Received" as it should. My other radios will, but not this one. This has been tested with sending pages to Astro Spectras, other 5k's, MaxTracs, etc. The same thing is true for Analog as it is Astro.
It's host/dsp 9.x, fwiw. I also get no ack over OFB, if it makes a difference. Am I perhaps missing a setting in the CPS? I've checked through and through and it all looks OK, but mabey I missed a small detail or something...
Thanks,
Ray.

Re: XTS not receiving page "Acks"
I think I've narrowed it down to the fact that the ack response time is too slow to go thru the Quantar before it's tail drops. If I send a Page a few times in a row, I finally get an ack...

Have you tried on simplex, or has it all been through a repeater?

This is all thru a Quantar.

Well for one, you should have tried simplex to see if it worked.
Two, it sounds like radio 2 needs to be adjusted.
There needs to be a realization that whenever you use a repeater there's inherent delay on when the first radio keys up, and when a decoding radio opens squelch and begins receiving. The issue at hand seems to be that the radio receiving the call alert is transmitting the ack code too quickly, which means that you need to reprogram the ack pre-time to higher than default levels. I don't remember what they call it on the warez, but once you find it, set it for 100ms higher than what it already is and you'll see that it'll make a difference.
I don't know how the paging radio made it through with default settings.

Hi, Josh.
I was able to get an ack thru the repeater originally while sending a Page while the tail was still up - otherwise no bueno. Adjusting the ack pretime was the ticket.

No, some programming needs to be adjusted, because the radio needs to key the repeater before it sends the data, hence the pre-time setting.Rayjk110 wrote:Hi, Josh.

I had to do that on all my radios in order to work the local P25 that has no hang time.
