Motorola XTS5000 and GRE PSR-500 Scanner

Post by Jim1348 »

We just switched about a month ago from VHF analog to an 800 mHz digital, trunked system. I don't have my XTVA installed yet, so in the meantime I simply have a pair of Panavise Clip Caddies on my dash. I also bought a GRE PSR-500 scanner to monitor additional talk groups on our system. Anyway, I seem to recall that the Motorola XTS5000 sometimes transmits RF even if I am not pressing the push to talk switch. My question is how much separation do I need to keep between my GRE PSR-500 scanner and the XTS5000 so that I don't damage the scanner? Also, with the Panavise Clip Caddies close to one another, can I safely keep my scanner and a Nextel i560 close to one another in the Clip Caddies. or is the RF from the Nextel going to damage the scanner? I think the Nextel is only 600 milliwatts.
