XTS1500 - Zone change with side button possible?

Post by nmfire10 »

On an XTS1500, is there any other way to change zones other than the channel knob and ABC concentric switch? I was hoping to use a side bottom of cycle through the banks, but it would appear that isn't an option. Just want to make sure I'm not overlooking something.

Is yours a model 1 or 1.5? I was able to use the purple button as a bank select which would toggle between ch. 1-48 and 49-96

I noticed you can use it to make another 3 zones but that still requires using the ABC switch for going between the three zones. For example, ABC will switch zones 1, 2, & 3. Press the side button and now you get zones 4, 5, & 6.

Doesn't help me because what I really want is to not have to use the ABC concentric switch for zone selection at all. I want to use it only for scan and use some other button to change zones.

Edit- I just had an idea that might work! Will report back.

I'm at a brick wall. I'm trying to do this as mentioned above. But it won't let me make more than 3 zones and 48 channels. What am I missing here?

You probably only have a model 1. With the 1.5, the end user can see via the screen a change in what "set" of zones he's browsing, which is why he can have 96 channels.

If you have a Model 1, there is no indication of what "set" of zones you are in short of you being able to physically look at the ABC switch to make the determination.

This was probably done since most people who use radios which are given model 1's probably on average do not have the level of understanding to remember what zone set the radio was in when they last pushed the button.

The ABC switch for changing zones on a model 1 or 1.5 is all there is.

You can move the function to the keypad on a model II or III, but other than that youre pretty much stuck with the top switch.

Alex is correct, you must have a display to get 96 mode option to work, and i think that's also limited to 2500's, but who knows with the later firmware versions that have been released. The 1500's are already doing alot of things that were going to be limited to higher tier originally.
