Hello,
I'm pretty new to a lot of this stuff but have gotten a lot of knowledge from here and friends.

My HT1000 has taken a beating, so I purchased a refurb kit from the internet. I had no problems with the change other until a question with the accessory port, which my buddy who's into amateur radios and all really couldn't answer, as he has never refurb or re cased any radios.

The accessory port has a 'button' for lack of better description that, as my friend said, is there to know if your speaker mic has its own antenna, so it can throw the signal off it. As far as i know, the kit didn't come with that 'button' nor was it installed. Somewhat baffled, we attempted to 'pop out' the old 'button' from my old case to no avail. Although I don't think its too big of a deal because i have the port cover, are there any suggestions on getting the 'button' out or perhaps i can 'exchange' the port from the old case to the new...

No, the front case in the refurb kit will not come with the "button", it has to be ordered seperately.

It actually consists of 2 seperate pieces, the "actuator" and a rubber "actuator seal". They're only included if you buy the more expensive "front housing assembly" which has a new speaker, flex cable, stickers, actuator etc. already assembled into a new front case.

They're tight, but they will pop out of the old housing, then you just press the actuator and the rubber seal into the new housing.

I've pushed them out many times with a blunted (rounded) end on a broken jewelers screwdriver. Don't use anything with a sharp point, you could kill it.

Push them out from the inside of the case.
