The purpose of this notice is to provide information concerning the impending cancellation of the ASTRO modem.

T5770 ASTRO-tac 3000 Comparator 525
F2048 ASTRO DIU3000 Hardware 524
Products Impacted:
ASTRO modem is used in conjunction with the below products and impacts Consoles used in Conventional systems:
• ASTRO Conventional Quantar
• Conventional ASTRO-tac Comparator
• ASTRO-tac 3000 Comparator
• DIU
Cancellation Rollout:
Cancellation will be effective in ALL regions (North Amercia, Latin America, Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East, and Israel) where products and corresponding hardware options and accessories are sold. Each region is expected to communicate these cancellation plans and dates to their Field representative and or customers.

Last Ship Date: 2/28/2008
Customer Impact:
Affects customers using mixed mode systems. The ASTRO modem eliminates the need for a secondary leased line and associated costs.
• If a mixed mode operation is required, then the ASTRO modem is the only current solution on a single 4-wire link.
Workaround:
Customers who need mixed mode over 4 wire circuits will have to install a second 4-wire phone line and run hybrid links instead.
• Customers who need mixed mode over 4 wire circuits will have to install a second 4 wire line and run hybrid links instead.
• Customers may need to install external off the shelf modems and V.24 cards
Recommendation for new System Sales:
• Customers who need mixed mode over 4 wire circuits will have to install a second phone line and run hybrid links instead. They may also need to purchase external off the shelf modems and V.24 cards, depending on the configuration.
