HT1250 CALL ALERT TONE DISABLE

Hello,

Stumbled accross this site as I was serching for an answer but could not find one even here.

We have a fleet of ht1250's and are set up with MDC ID's and QCII alert tones.

We have a county wide dispatch as well as our own dispatch channel that uses squelch AND QCII.

2 Questions:

1) - Is there a way for us to be able to scan at night on those 2 channels and recieve a call alert and have the squelch open when our tones are dispatched on either frequency? We have 2 different sets of tones for each channel.

2) - When a call alert is recieved on either channel - the call alert tone from the radio sounds at its regular intervals. For example we will hear approx 1 second of the 2nd QCII tone and then the radio will begin it's Call Alert tone. Everytime the call alert tone from the radio is sounded it cuts out the audio from the dispatch. "Attention XXFD " ALERT TONE "A ACCIDENT WITH" ALERT TONE "BLU PASSENGER CAR THAT IS UNDER" ALERT TONE "XXFD PLEASE RESPOND"

If I am about as clear as mud, please advise!

Let me know how I can fix/work around if anyone knows.

Thanks

yes you can do multiple QCII systems on the ht1250 but it's got a real low reliability rate on if it will go off when it's on scan. you need a 2 channel pager if you want it to work the way you describe and work every time. the ht1250 looks good on paper to do what you want but in the real world it will give you less than a 50% chance of going off.

Thanks.. that's what we were thinking, but what about the 2nd question. Anyone know how to disable those call alert tones or have them not go off during a dispatch?

Thanks...

go into the settings and adjust the auto reset time on it or set it up to push a button to reset it.

Okay - so I could set the reset time to "0" and it would never sound? But I am afraid this would reset the squelch as well and not let the actual dispatch come through at all.

As far as the push button to reset it, that would work but the solution is to turn that feature off all together. It seems so simple - this shouldn't be so difficult!

All help is appreciated!

if you want to turn if off all togather then go into the personality and under the recieve signaling change it from QCII to none set your mute/unmute rule to std/std and you'll be set.

I don't want the QCII signalling to change - I just want the radios themselves to not have the call alert tone that it produces.

i must be missing something here, if you don't want to hear the alert tone that the QCII makes then you turn it off, if you don't want to change it then you're gonna hear it, it's that simple. if you turn it off then you're gonna hear the actual tones that disbatch sends out then you will hear whatever disbatch has to say and not the alert from the radio. maybe somebody else can explain it easier? or just start using pagers?

Sounds like he wants the radio to just open the audio when the tones are sent, then I assume reset as regular.

Ok.. Let me attempt to explain this a little bit clearer......

The HT1250 radio produces tone(s) when QCII tones are recieved on the channel. In the menu settings of the radio this is labeled "Call Alert". You can change the tone in the Audio menu of the HT1250 with the standard tone or 5 or 6 other tones. The radio (not dispatch audio tones) produces these tones. So just to make clear - it's NOT the audio coming from the frequency itself - its the tone the radio is producing.

The problem is this tone overrides all of the audio on the channel audio. So as said in the original post we get this:

"Attention XXFD " ALERT TONE "an accident with" ALERT TONE "blue passenger care that is" ALERT TONE "XXFD please respond."

The alert tone in the above phrase is the tones produced BY THE RADIO - and NOT the audio coming from the frequency itself.

I hope this clears things up. I was told by /\/\ tech support this IS possible - however my accent and hers just didn't mix.

Thanks!

We should say this....

Tones = what dispatch sends over the airwaves
Beeps = What the radio/pager does when it hears the correct tones

With that said, you just want the audio to open up with no Beeps. If your dispatch center is that quick to start talking maybe they should be trained to wait a few seconds, otherwise it seems anyone else that is dispatched by them would have the same issue as you do.

That's my opinion, Im sure HLA or more Waires pros will be in shortly to say for sure what your options are, I'm just not sure enough about the HT1250 to say.

AHHHH BEEP! For the life of me I could not figure out what to call the radio sound at the time of post....

So let me rephrase what we hear

BEEP "Attention XXFD " BEEP "an accident with" BEEP "blue passenger care that is" BEEP "XXFD please respond."

Everytime it BEEPs we hear no audio.

That in turn is the problem.

WE WANT NO BEEPY!

I understand exactly what your saying. It is because the radio's alert tone is repeating until reset and interfering with the dispatcher's audio. There is one simple check box that will fix this. It will make the radio sound it's alert beep ONCE as soon as the B-Tone hits just like a pager.

Quick-Call II System > Call Alert / Sel Call tab > CHECK "Alert Tone Auto Reset"

YES THANK YOU!!

Now the only other issue is the amount of time the squelch is left open. After the alet tone auto reset is checked ( and perhaps before it ) the squelch only stays open for a limeted amount of time.

Is there a way we could extend the squelch time so it stays open for the entire dispatch?

Thanks SO much for all help!

Yep.

Signaling > Signaling Configuration: AUTO RESET TIME. You can set it for 1-255 seconds.
