XTL2500 Control Head Issues

OK guys, I’m just curious if anyone else is having the same chronic issues we are with the XTL2500 control heads. Just so you know, we are aware of the Ignition sense wiring issues mentioned in the Motorola SRN 1524A and have changed our installs accordingly.

For some time we have had a lot of issues with radios that would not follow ignition sense. In other cases the fuse for the ignition sense will blow (in a spectacular way) the moment power is applied. All issues so far follow the control head.

I am wondering if Motorola is trying to cover up a major design flaw in their control heads. Of course calling them and asking why revealed no results. What do you think?

Yeah, see if they will comment on the design flaw where the radio shuts off by itself when you go to key up or it comes on and goes off as it pleases. Bet you won't hear about that either.

Went through and am still going through many control head upgrades because of these control heads

Do you have the SRN or is there a copy some where? I tried Google..

I have seen Astro Spectras burn up the command board because the main power on the back of the radio was not connected DIRECTLY to the battery.
