Saber I channel squelch not persistent

I'm trying to save channel squelch thresholds in a Saber I H43QXN7139CN but I cannot figure out how to "save" them permanently in the radio. I can adjust the levels with the up/down arrow keys but the settings do not seem to get saved in the radio by writing the code plug or just by using the menu to make the changes.

Also, the power settings are 7F for all levels and I cannot figure out how to change them (reduce them). Are these settings supposed to be written to the radio when the code plug is saved to the radio or is there another option? R5.00

All ideas and suggestions welcome.

Your power levels are wayyyy too high.. I set mine about 63 on high power 36 on low. Tab down to the power and use the right and left arrow key to reduce the power .

Also set your squelch about 7

sounds like someone was changing settigs where they didnt belong.

what your working on really needs a service monitor and the right cables.

When you go to program the radio F3 F8 go F2 to use the field programmer settings

If that doesnt work your codeplug may be screwed and you can always make up a new one and use the defaults from the new codeplug and reprogram your freqs and then when you go to program it use F2

Thanks for the info - I will try to use the values you recommend... BUT, the problem is they are not getting saved in the radio...

If I write the code plug into the radio, then read it back in the values say 7F for power, etc. Not sure why it doesn't keep the values i've used - that's what is confusing me. Not sure how to solve this one.

sounds like the codeplug is corrupted . Start fresh and re enter your options and freqs

Does anyone still do nice clean alignments for these radios? I don't have access to a service monitor or cables to test it. Given that the power output settings were tinkered with I wonder what else is off. I suppose I could leave it as is since the people I have spoken to say that my transmitted audio is excellent, but I don't want to fry the thing.

(On the other hand it's probably been set like this for years so if it was going to fail it should have by now)
