My dept is looking into entry-level encryption with the initial purchase of 2 XTL5000s, the future may hold digital. The local M salesperson has very limited knowledge of encryption hardware/software. Could anyone help with what options to install into the 5000s as far as hardware, firmware, flash codes, and encryption goes?

We are currently on a VHF high analog repeater system. We are looking into doing the encryption car-to-car simplex, MDC id decode, MDC call/alert.

Any help from the knowledgeable encryption folks here would be greatly appreciated.
