Unmute / Mute Rule

I am having a hard time understanding this concept. I have some conventional channels set as CSQ and some with PL. What option should I use?
From the help menu I know:
Std Unmuting, Std Muting: To unmute on Proper Private Line (PL) code detection, and to mute on loss of proper PL code.
And Unmuting, Std Muting: To unmute on Proper PL code detection And Carrier Squelch detect, and to mute on loss of proper PL code.
And Unmuting, Or Muting: To unmute on Proper PL code detection And Carrier Squelch detect, and to mute on loss of proper PL code Or loss of Carrier Squelch detect.
I think the default is the last option. Wouldn't the first option be the best? Could some one please help me understand this setting, and when I would want to use each option?

if you are using csq then none of the options should be available. unless you are using some kind of 2nd signaling like qcII or 5 tone you can pretty much leave the rule to default.

What do you mean by "available"? They are all available and I
have to pick one according to the CPS.
On some of my frequencies I use PL and others I use CSQ. I am not using any signaling.
So should I leave everything set for AND Unmuting and OR Muting?

The And/Or mute/unmute rule works best in 'most' cases.
Using Std Unmuting, Std Muting: the The PL or DPL code will force the squelch to open on very weak signals.

So, what is the difference between using Std. Unmuting, Std Muting and And Unmuting, Or Muting?

This concept threw me for a loop a long time ago too. Took me a while to figure it out as well.
The radio can detect a valid PL long before the signal is strong enough to break the squelch threshold and unmute the speaker.
STD/STD means that as long as it can hear a valid PL, it will unmute; even if the signal is too weak to normally break the squelch without a PL. The result is you might end up hearing a really weak radio call that is nothing but static with a PL.
AND/STD means it will only UNMUTE with the proper PL AND the signal being strong enough to break the squelch. It will remain unmuted even if the signal strength drops below the squelch threshold as long as it can still detect a PL.
AND/OR is the same as above except it will mute when the signal strength drops below the squelch threshold. The radio can still hear the PL but the signal is too weak to be worth listening to. This is what I set everything for.

Now that explains it a lot better!
So I would want to use STD/STD if I wanted to hear really weak radio calls (because the radio can detect a PL signal long before the signal is strong enough to break squelch).
And I would use AND/OR if I didn't want to hear weak radio transmissions that were to weak to listen to?
With AND/STD I would hear signals that break the squelch threshold and the signals would only mute when it finally fails to detect the PL code?
Am I correct?
