Little of topic but were using mtr2000's for the radios so theirs my moto link.

Anyone on the board familiar with moducom consoles and their setup.
Im attempting to setup a multichannel mtr2000 on our console at work. I been reading through the installation manuals and programming manuals and are stumpid.

I have the mtr200 channels and tone remote tones programmed.

the channel buttons have been setup in the programming.

We have one base station setup like this already I just mimiced the programming but cannot get any of the channels to change or radio to keyup.

I have the trc card all programmed but for some reason my boss told me we do all the changes from position 5 and then update each console and do console 1 last.

in the manual all programming is suppose to be at the scp active consle which is position1 then program the rest of the consoles. im wondering if this is the problem some how the trc card is not getting programmed.

I did an install of a large (24 position, 24 channel, 48 phone line) Moducom system several years ago. I no longer have access to the documentation so I am not going to attempt to tell you what to do other than STOP! right now before you do major damage.

If you aren't absolutely certain what you are doing and have been trained on the system, stop and work with Moducom tech support before you cause havoc.

I beleive that any console can be used for programming but the upload to other consoles must be done in a proper sequence.

We reluctantly gave the system password to a dispatch supervisor who had attended the training. He messed up the system twice and caused minor disruptions that took a few hours for us to correct. He then gave the password to a night shift dispatcher who thought he was a computer expert. This guy crashed the whole system and we had 2 techs there for about 8 hours to straighten out all the consoles and get the system back up.

I think that Moducom is a great system but, like any complex system, software changes can cause havoc if not done properly.

I understand Im no Idiot. I always keep the file backed up so if I make a mistake I can update it. This system is pretty simple I have read through most if not all the programming and installation stuff its pretty basic. The company that originally installed the system is well known for hacking everything together which was very evident when I started working their We actually hired a engineer to redo the entire system beyond just the console but phone station alerting and microwave and everything else. We actually had the same problem when we did this the first time and We called the company to come out and get it working. They did something that altered the standard way of doing that the manual says. My next call is to moducom support and have a chat with them.

Moducom provides good tech support and it is best to get them involved up front if something does not seem right rather than to clean up the mess after you crash the system.

It has been 5 years since I worked on a Moducom system and there may have been changes in newer systems but what your boss told you brought back memories of what we learned in the Moducom training. We were told to always do programming and debugging on a console other than the regular SCP and update the regular SCP last. This provides the best way to recover if you have a problem with the update.
