xts2500 depot question
If i send my XTS2500 into depot, how could i go about getting depot tags applied. This is a panter radio and flat rate is expensive.
What if i sent it in and selected 1hr labor or something along those lines.

Re: xts2500 depot question
YMMV, but flat rate worked for a couple of people. It just depends on what desk the radio hits. Most likely it will be sent back to you sans repair or new tags. Simply the risk of buying one of those radios.

Re: xts2500 depot question
If you send in a crappy enough looking radio, or one in really bad shape (but still works), you'll usually get a new one, or 9 times of 10, get a brand new case. Usually at no charge....

The origin of these radios has been discussed in detail.

Sending it to the depot may work, it depends on who gets the radio at the depot. I have seen motorola's rental company send me units with the same sn as rentals, then I have also seen motorola's suspect radio policy statement, which says they will either return unrepaired or offer a quote to make it a legit radio. It all depends on what the mood is that day.
If its not broken, I would not risk sending it in.

Re: xts2500 depot question

Re: xts2500 depot question
I occasionally have to depot a radio we cannot repair here. If the serial number and ID tags are damaged or missing, it generally comes back with new ones, provided everything matches.
Sometimes somebody in El Paso calls and asks for additional information, particularly on State radios that the prison has managed to muck up.
Any radio that goes in flat rate and will require a new back frame (bent, run over, etc) gets new labels when they change the frame.
