MAXTRAC D33MJA7DA5CK (VHF)
RSS R05.30.00
Computer is an old Gateway laptop running Windows 98, but booted to DOS. I've used the serial port to program other radios.
I'm using the same RIB, and RIB to computer cable, that I use for my XTS3000s and MTS2000s. The RIB to radio cable uses the RJ45 to DB25 pinout specifications under the MAXTRAC section on BATLABS.
The RSS says "Accessing Serial Bus" for a while, then "Attempting Serial Bus Recovery", and, finally, "Radio MUST Be Connected AND Powered Up to Continue With This Procedure".
Obviously, there's a communication problem between the laptop and the radio but I've built the RIB to Radio cable from scratch, twice, with the same results. I've built a lot of cables in my day and tested both out thoroughly so I'm not inclined to think the problem is with the cable, though I will check it out again.
Is there an older model RIB I should be using? I deal mostly with XTS3000s and XTS5000s, so getting out the old computer and booting to DOS is fairly foreign to me. Any suggestions welcome. I'm just trying to see if I can give these MaxTracs (I have several - same results) a future as interoperability/emergency radios.
Thanks
