I recently picked up a Motorola UHF HT1250 and it has some display problems. It transmits and receives fine, but the display is blank and the display light won't go off. All of the buttons on the face of the radio don't work and all the other buttons and controls on the radio work fine. Any suggestions?

can you read the radio? first make shure it isn't a ht750 that someone put a 1250 case on. can you read the model number off of the back of the radio? if you can read the radio make shure the front buttons are turned on.

What's the model number on the back of the radio frame?

I double checked the model number and it is correct

Well the model number is correct for an HT1250 Limited Keypad 403-470 radio. Perhaps someone has forced an HT750 codeplug into it, or the radio needs to be reflashed.

I believe there was a field bulletin put out on this one. If I'm not mistaken there was an issue with the clip where the display fits into the keyboard. The fix if I'm not mistaken was to have a shock pack installed on the shield causing pressure on top of the socket. That tended to fix the problem. I'd have to look into the very long list of old SRN's to be sure but I'm thinking there was one out for that.

maybe the ribbon cable in the head is not totally plugged in. Pull the head off and try taking the ribbon cable off and put it back on.

I am not sure if you got this resolved yet but it sounds like the flex circuit between the main board and LCD board is either unplugged or bad. This would effect the front buttons and the the LCD but the side buttons would still work.

thanks for every one's suggestions, it was the ribbon cable, it just wasn't plugged in properly. It works fine now
