Spectra Out of Band questions

Hey all,
I just had the oppurtunity to try the out of band programming info from the batlabs pages. I modified the spectra1.exe to allow me to program out of band freqs. I have a pair of 450-482MHz mid-power spectras that I would like to receive a few 500 & 501MHz freqs on. The RSS allowed me to enter these frequencies and program them to the radio, however I get no audio on these channels. They are programmed as receive only, and I don't get any errors when switching to them. Just no audio whatsoever. Is there anything I can try to open it up to these, or am I SOL?

Thanks.
Jon

Not a RSS or programming problem.

The range 3 VCO will not lock up there reliably if at all. No VCO lock, no RX audio.
You probably need to remove some line at the lazer tuning point to get "up there" at 500 mHz.
You will lose the lower end tho.

Ok. I kinda figured that would be the answer. I need the 450 range more than the 500s. Would the high split radios be more likely to work in this setup? I need tx on 450 and rx only on 500.

The 482-512 Spectras won't work at 450... 450-482s won't work at 500. The VCO simply won't tolerate it.

If you need both in one radio, you should look into a wide-split XTL, CDM, etc. that supports 450-512/450-527 in one radio.

If the Spectra is shifted up to receive at 500, you will lose anything below 460 or so. I am working on a 453 to 488 factory split Spectra to get RX on 507 and still have TX RX at 460 and above. I have it up to 495. It will take some more work to find out for sure if it is possible without destroying the radio..
