I have some almost brand new 2100mAh NIMH batteries that just arent lasting long.... SO... Im trying to change the low battery chirp on my XTS3000. Im want it to wait till the battery has gone down farther to start chirping. When i enter tuner, it allows me to access all of the options EXCEPT the Battery Reading Calibration feature. Any ideas on how to access this? Or is it just not an option? Its a model 1, astro capable, firmware 03.33.00.00, software N05.01.04, flashcode 000001-000000-9, system package H35.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Craig

It sounds like the batteries were not properly brought up to full charge when first put into service (usually 12 to 16 hrs for the initial charge time). How long are these batteries lasting?

Each one was charged for about 24 hours when I first recieved them. I've also been using a conditioning charger with them since the initial charge. They're lasting for about 14 hours with very minimal use throughout the day. I had some 1500mAh Nicad batteries for my HT1000's and they would last for 24-36 hours under the exact same conditions. Im not 100% sure that the batteries are low when the chirping starts. I did some research on here and found that a lot of the xts3k's have been set to begin chirping when the battery still has 30-40% life left.
Thanks
Craig

That's a big part of your problem. See my post in this thread:

Some electical tape could solve your issue.

Is this going to still give me a low battery chirp? Or will the radio just go dead without warning?

It will still give the chirp, just not prematurely anymore.
