XTL2500 not showing one PTT-ID

Post by nmfire10 »

Is there a way to make an XTL2500 NOT show a certain astro PTT-ID? For example, on the CDM series, the radio will not decode and display its own ID. I tried that with this XTL and it seems that it WILL decode its own ID.

The dispatch console has a PTT-ID of "5". So this XTL2500 shows "5" every time the dispatcher keys up. I want to make it so it will keep the officer's PTT-ID on the display rather than showing "5" when the dispatcher answers him. I though I could just make the radio's own ID "5" and it wouldn't show it. But no such luck.

Me: "What exactly is a 900Mhz UHF CB?"
Them: "A very nice CB at 900Mhz speed!"

Where is this XTL2500 installed? Is it located in front of the dispatcher?

When the field unit transmits their ID will show up, when the dispatcher transmits their ID will show up, then when the field unit answers their ID will be shown again.

I have never seen a way to block a specific ID from showing up on the XTL series radios. You could at least alias the 000005 ID as "Dispatch" or something but thats about it.

Even with trunking this can not be done.

I think the feature your looking for is more of a console function rather than a subscriber.

What Matt is referring to is the field radio (XTL). If you have diplay ID enabled, the radio typically doesn't update the ID as quick as you would think. You can have a converstation going back and forth, but only one ID tends to stay on the radio display. I have noticed this with my astro's as well in digital and MDC1200.

Best I can suggest is to set the display hangtime to zero or one. The display timer appears to go off the carrier. Once the carrier drops, the timer begins. Results may vary.

If its the system I am thinking of, its a digital system that this is occuring on.
