XTS5000 Programming Errors "...c0000368"

I have an XTS5000 (H18SDF9PW6AN) and I just intsalled Astro25 CPS 10.01.00 on my PC today. I attemped to read the radio using a Kawa aftermarket serial ribless programming cable got off of Ebay and I am recieving a NetGen10 error "Radio Failed to Acknowledge Error Context: 24, Status: c0000386". The radio is on, however the battery is not super fresh. It's not beeping or anything but it's just not fresh off the charger. Could this be causing the error?

I also installed the software onto another PC, however both are Windows XP Pro, and I get the same error.

If I unhook the cable from the radio and click the read device button it shows error "....c000039e". So, I came to the conclusion that since the error codes are different, I'm assuming that the cable is making a connection but obvoiusly there must be another issue causing the '368' error? I know you guys are the experts...would you agree with that assumption? What else could it be?

Also, are USB programming cables much better than serial? Is there less of a change of bricking the radio using aftermarket USB over serial? Are there any aftermarket USB cables out there becuase I couldn't find any on Ebay.

Thank you

Those Kawa programming cables are junk. From the ones I've seen, you have to have a full charged battery if there is any hope of reading the radio with these Kawa cables.

Why use a $20 cable on a $2000 radio - that just don't make sense.

as stated earlier, you spend at least $2,000 on a radio but go the cheapest rout to program it which is also the easieest rout to damage it don't make sense. and your cps version 10 is getting old now and may not read that radio anyways? i've never had the oem usb cable give the slightest problem, works perfect every time. even with a low battery

His version 10 is getting old now? What is the newest out there? I thought R09.00.00 was still the newest for the 2500/5000?

No, the latest 5K CPS is version 11.

If my radio was programmed with Version 9 or 11 CPS and Im trying to read it using Version 10, would that give me this error code or is it most likely the cable?

Here's my list of error codes, and what causes them:

You have 5 main error codes most people run into with these type radios.

Radio Info is Incorrect <----there is no communication to radio
Error Code: e4000398

Open Radio Failed <----need newer CPS? not 100% on this one
Error Code: a4000309

Radio Failed to Acknowledge <----comport problems or bad prog. cable
Error Code: e4000386

Connection Error
Error Context: 24, Status: 80004005 <-------------Comport is being used by another program

Open Radio Failed:
Error Context: 24, Status: c0000039e <-------------Using older style RIB, not MAX 232

For Astro25 CPS it would give a "This version of CPS is incompatible with the radio...." not an error code. The CPS will always read a radio that is at or below the version of the CPS. It may or may not read a version above. Depends on the CPS version and what they added to it.
