quantar question

folks
we are in the process of getting quotes for replacing our micor back-up xmitter/reciever with a new quantat. Currently we are wideband UHF conventional with no plans for digital, our main xmitter is a 99 vintage quantar. All the sites are linked together with a spectra-tac comparitor. We are also planning on replacing the spectra-tac comparitor with a conventional ratheon snv12 comparitor. The question is on one of the quotes we got for the quantar there was a line item option (X806D) for digital cai option like $2k. Do we need this or is it an expense we will not need unless the rest of the system is uplifted to P25 ? If we keep this option is there a way to use the digital capability of the new quantar if we have some p25 subscriber units?
If it matters the console we have is a centracom2 with no bells and barely a whistle.
thanks
