HT1550XLS Tx audio

I have an issue that is noticeable on one of the 16 programmed conventional personalities on my HT1550XLS. On that frequency it is common for me to be transmitting in a high ambient noise environment. Under such conditions receiving stations complain that they are not able to hear what I am saying. I'm guessing that the mic gain (25.5) might be too high and that the ambient noise is capturing all of the audio input and causing DPL decode issues. There are no complaints on any of the other personalities. Compression is disabled, Low Level Expansion, and De-Emphasis and Pre-Emphasis are programmed by default in the advanced area for all personalities. Should I decrease the global setting for MIC gain? Do the Emphasis settings affect transmit audio in the advanced personality configuration area? I should note that the receive complaints are coming from others using ICOM handheld transcievers and that this is a simplex system.

sounds like the problem is in the recieve radios, your mic gain is fine. you may want to check to see if you are set to narrow band but shouldn't be on that one channel, that would make you sound low?

Are there any recommendations for setting the global mic gain? I'm set at 25.5 as it is the default, but obviously since it is configurable, there must be different ranges that work better in certain environments.

I have a fleet ofabout 200 HT750s that're used in high ambient noise level industrial manufacturing environments daily. We turn off low level expansion and try to get users to use the speaker-mics as per M recommendations(i.e. one to two inches from the speaker's lips).
