My motorola rln4008b rib stopped working tonight. Com port failure in dos, anything in withdos goes into programming, fails, then the radio gets stuck in reset. Any common problem here? I found pin one on the db25 bent to the case and since that no dice. Are these worth fixing or to the can it goes? Can anyone provide a quote?
I think I may have gotten 7.5+ on the bus line playing with a gtx portable...
all connections seem good. com port on computer is good. rib does not work on two computers...

can't hurt to hold on to it for a while. I would change the cables, recheck all connections. See if you can borrow another RIB & check the PC. I've had some strange probs happen with RIBS, over lots of years. As for the Com Port problem. In 1 case I had RF leakage. Relocated the RIB -- prob fixed.... don't toss it just yet!!! Friend of mine did that and it was a cable prob! ...Jim

I metered all the cables and also tried another computer. Tried all my radios and cables for each with no dice. Kinda makes me mad.

Did you check the protection diodes on the data lines?

Well when you check and re-check EVERYTHING before you panic you would find the ground line from pc to rib was bad. Is this a common computer cable or a Motorola special?
Anybody got one for sale?
