MT2000 and Call Alert Encode

I just got a UHF full keypad MT2000 with controller revision 2.00 and it will do Call Alert Decode but not encode. I've seen a codeplug for a MT2000 that did Call Alert encode I'm just curious if there is a hack or a new controller revision for the MT2000 to get mine to do Call Alert Encode.

I was able to find a codeplug on the codeplugsupersite.com page under the MT2000 directory named mt2000SDH. It will do MDC Call Alert Encode but it is a S band split and mine is a R band split. I wonder if the firmware is different in the S band split radio?

Anyone have any knowlege about this at all? All official Motorola info I have says the MT2000 features "Call Alert Decode" only.

Some folks say that some MT2000's will do "Call Alert" Encode as well. If so, is it a hack or a Motorola upgrade on later models, or does it require an optional control board of some sort?

You guys who know all the ins and outs about this please share your knowlege with us.

Thank you.

Here are the MDC1200 functions for the MT2000 as advertised by Motorola.

Following is direct copy and paste from the MT2000 product brochure:

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Start<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
MDC-1200 STAT-ALERT Signalling
Unit ID and Emergency—Each MT 2000 radio can be programmed to send a unique
digital identification code at the beginning of each transmission, at the end, or both.
This ID may be combined with an emergency alarm that is activated by an emergency
button on the top of the radio. The dispatcher can quickly identify the radio
user, and also receive nearly instant clear indication of critical situations.

Call Alert and Selective Call Decode
Provides an efficient way for the dispatcher to initiate a
page or a voice page message to an individual or a
group. It is a convenient way to eliminate the need for
users to listen to traffic that does not concern them.
When the user receives a Call Alert, the radio will continuously
generate a series of four tones and flash the
green LED until the user takes action. When the user
receives a Selective Call, the radio will generate alert
tones, flash the green LED, and will unmute so an
incoming message can be heard.

Radio Check
Allows the dispatcher to determine if the radio unit is
on the air and within communications range without
disturbing the radio operator.

Touch-Code Signalling
Touch-Code signalling allows encoding of Dual Tone
Multi-Frequency tones via a keypad. This lets a user
access the land-line phone network or gives them the
capability to operate remote control devices. There are
several operational configurations that may be programmed
by the user, including manual or automatic
phone line access, and live or buffered dialing.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>End<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

The "Stat-Alert" feature would be encodeable to send the MT2000's unique digital I.D. code.

The "Call Alert & Select Call" features basically work the same as a one way pager receiver. They will decode user defined page signals received from dispatch and alert the MT2000 operator with beeps and LED that dispatch is trying to reach him.

Honestly, I can't see why there would exist any ENCODE ability for "Call Alert" or "Selective Calling" one way paging.

Still trying to figure this out... Let me ask the question in a different way.

Are "Call Alert Encode" and "Selective Call Encode" features found in digital and/or trunking radios only?

Seems the only Motorola radio products I've been able to find with Encode capability for Call Alert and Selective Call are either digital or trunked. If so, that would mean the analog and conventional MT2000 cannot be made to encode these features. Correct?

Anyone know anything about this... please help.
