How do you generate the A, B, C, D keys for Amateur radio repeaters from a Motorola radio that has a full keypad ?

You don't.
About your only choice is one of the Kenwoods that support it, or using a plain-front radio and adding a PiPo pad.

Thanks very much for your quick reply. I had a feeling that was going to be the answer.
some repeater owner in the Atlanta area have as a security measure, prefacing the use of the IRLP by use the "D" key prior to entering the node # to contact.
Thanks Again !!

You can modify the hand mic with a pushbutton to convert the third column into the 4th!
I havn't done it (yet) but it is nicely documented here;

I wonder if some portables use the same chipset and could be modified????

Thanks for the response. When traveling on business, I bring my one of my HTs with me. The hand mike does not have a DTMF keypad in it, and I don't think I would want to mess with the radio keypad.
I guess the answer is, I can't get there from here. Shoot.
Thanks again for the info, that is something I would like to explore any way.

Hello :
Or you can do it cheap and dirty by using a CES palm encoder and simply let the D audio tx through the mike.
Works but just looks sleezy as to the way it gets done.
Sorta Hillbillyish rather than Upper Class.
The CES dtmf encoder with the dinasoar A/B/C/D codes was used to program the CES 5200 comunity phone patch and also has a audio jack that can be plugged into the radios audio if you wanted to do it that way.
I do have a couple of them that i use for programming purposes and could email you a scan of it if you wanted to see one of them.
PM me your email address if youd like to see one.
