Minitor V White Noise

I just received my first Minitor V. I purchased it used, but it is in pristine condition. Its specs are;

Model: A04KMS9238CC
Serial: XXXWGUXXXX
Band Split: E: 453 - 461.9875 MHz
Codeplug Version: 0.044 (What is this anyway?)
Pager Firmware Version: 3.00 (What’s the most current?)

So it’s a one channel UHF SV. I have an OEM Motorola pager programmer and OEM nest which I purchased from Jeff at Sandy’s (Awesome dealer!!!) And I’m using a brand new OEM Battery, so no aftermarket parts here anywhere.

No matter what configuration I use to set-up the pager, every time the carrier drops, the Minitor V will continue to emit white noise. The pager is tuned to 460.600MHz, and I’ve tried programming the “Reset Function” to every setting, including auto and Revert N = 15sec, as has been suggested in several posts. I’ve tried every squelch setting. I’ve tried several combinations, and every time the carrier drops, select call or normal key up, I continue to hear white noise. It receives everything else fine. Select calls alerts are recorded, but I hear white noise until I manually press the reset button, no matter what the “Reset Function” is set to.

Has anyone encountered this? I’m not sure how it could be a programming error, but I’m more than willing to send you the PPS file to check. I’m not pager programming expert, but I’ve programmed MANY Minitor III’s & IV’s. I can’t understand what’s wrong with this and it’s driving me mad!!! Could this be a hardware issue?

I am showing 460.600 close to the spur frequency of 460.6375. You may have may problems in trying to make this work. I have found moving the frequency a few hertz away clears the humm to a point depending on your split and it sometimes makes the problem worse. So give it a try and see with a service monitor or other signal generator if it works for your case.

There is no hum. The pager stays unsquelched, no matter what settings are used. I set the squelch to 1 and it will stay squelched most of the time. But more often than not, when a transmission is received (any transmission, not just a select or group call) the pager stays unsquelched 8 times out of 10 after the carrier drops.

Pardon, remove humm and insert constant squelch.

I had this with 105 pagers for a customer and had to return all of them for the SP01 split for the frequency they are using. The pagers started showing up in droves with the same problem you are describing.
