Minitor III intermittent sensitivity

I have a VHF Minitor III that loses receive sensitivity when flexed or pressed. I do not see any cracks under a microscope. Is there any history of this and any cures?

One thought comes to mind without having the pager in hand. There should be an insulator pad on the side of the on-off-volume control to keep the antenna from touching it. If they can touch, it will kill sensitivity.

Good idea, but insulator is still there.

Does the receiver completely quit at any rf level or does it just get poorer?

Signal gets noisy. There is background hiss.

Got it. I had another idea but it causes complete loss of signal. It won't apply in this case.
