I just programmed my first CP110. I saw a choice for a side button to be Talk Around or Repeater. I did not see a way to program an offset or a different transmitt frequency. Can the CP110 be used on a repeater? Also the LED is always slowly blinking. Not the fast scan blink. What does this mean? It blinks on either channel. It blinks without antenna and away from computer.

A talkaround button just changes your transmit channel to be the
same as the receive channel, that's all. Everything else is set at other
locations in the radio/CPS/program/whatever. If the channel is set for
simplex operation the talkaround button doesn't do anything.

I do not see a place to enter a seperate transmitt frequency.

Okay, you just programmed channel to 146.34 transmit and 146.94 receive.
If your CPS has a talkaround check box, you checked the box so that talkaround
is permitted on channel 1.
Then you program one of the buttons to do talkaround.
When you push the talkaround button the radio will receive AND transmit
on 146.94.

The above is the way it would work on an XTS portable. On your radio, as long as
the channels are invididually programmable, it would have to be the same or a similar
procedure.

Just dealt with this today, so you have fresh news.

The CP110 is meant for simplex frequencies only per your friends at post support.

I could not find a place so I made a call to verify.

This radio does lack alot. I put it up there with the Mototrbo products in the audio division.

i've never done one but why would talk around be an option in the radio if it could only do simplex?

TA wouldn't be an option because it couldn't be an option.
I think the OP was operating under the belief that the radio
was programmable in the manner of a "regular" Motorola radio,
and from the info above I gather that it's a simplex-only radio.
First of its kind I've ever run across.

OP sees a TA/RPT option for side button assignment in his programming software the first time he programs a CP110. He is also under the impression that his CP110 is a simplex only radio. He wonders; Am I missing something here?

To me, it seems like a perfectly reasonable question from the OP. If I had run into something like that I would have asked some one about it myself. For example: Why does this simplex radio have a side button assignment to toggle it into repeater mode?

You would think, based on other CPS platforms and the way
they're set up, that if you tried to enable talkaround when
it wasn't available that you'd get the dreaded sunglasses
icon, meaning the function was not available. I'm still amazed,
so to speak, that Motorola would put out a radio that is not
capable of transmitting on offsets. BTW, the factory sheets
on this radio are no help whatsoever on the subject.

Thing is Tom these are just little 2 watt "job site radios" so I'm not really surprised that they're simplex only (most are). What is baffling is that the software has the TA/RPT button assignment option.

Possibly the same software is also used on other models that will program split? Only the Devil and Motorola knows...
