AS III Upgrade

Post by nickburns186 »

Any help here is appreciated folks. I have a AS III UHF 1meg with the following flashcode 100008-000000-0
What do I need to make it 9600 Smartzone Omnilink compatible as far as flash upgrades go? My guess is:

Q327AS ENH: UPGRADE DIGITALSMARTZONE
Q173: ENH: SMARTZONE OMNILINK OPERAT

Nope, you need more than that You'd need the APCO25 9600 baud trunking option. What you have marked is basic smartzone and omnilink, which is probably also required...

You also need firmware R06.70.00 which is hard to come by, because it doesn't support many features outside of the APCO-25 trunking standard.

9600 isnt an option in the price book. Thats why I'm asking because I'm sure its part of one of the listed packages.

It isn't available in the pricebook because it's not a purchasable option. True APCO25 trunking support in the Astro Saber/XTS3k line was a stopgap measure at best. If you want to put a radio of your own on an APCO25 trunking system, you're going to have to purchase a newer radio, such as an XTS2500 or XTS5000.

Which we have plenty of.....I suppose I'll depot it and let them deal with it. Thanks for the help.

And depoting it won't help you, since all they'll do is bump the firmware, not the flashcode. Fail... again.

P25 support on the Astro line is limited at best. It wouldn't surprise me to see Moto refuse to even sell you the P25 bump.

The quote my rep sent back indicates for a $800 they will. I'm a government customer, not a whacker. Thanks again.

If you're a big-time government customer, why did you even need to ask the question? I would assume that a big-time government customer would have plenty of knowledge of these system types, or would call some higher-up at Moto and ask.

Perhaps you need to remove the chip from your shoulder... or the corncob from other areas.

Sorry man, but as a long time reader of this board, I thought I'd do a little research and get an opinion before I went to Motorola. I was obviously wrong as you only wanted to point out that it was impossible. I dont claim to know it all, nor did I say I was a "big time" customer. Your the one with the chip my friend. I've learned my lesson here. Good admin skills btw...
