Batboard

I purchased a Motorola L1237A on eBay that was advertised as a "remote for any spectra." It was new and I thought it might have some kind of manual or instructions on connection. It didn't. Good news is that it didn't cost enough to cause me concern. I'd like to hook it up to a spectra so my wife can use it upstairs and not have to come down to the radio room to answer when I call.

The remote looks like a telephone with a keypad and extra buttons such as "mon" "supv" "emerg" etc. It's nifty and looks like it would fit the need. It is new, but no instructions were provided. I opened it up and it's a pretty populated board and a couple of settings that lead me to believe it's a DC/Tone remote of some kind.

If anyone could point me in the correct direction toward hookup, I would be very appreciative. Any supporting documents or help toward finding same would also be appreciated.

If it doesn't say so, and is beige in color, it may be a DGT9000 remote... which is indeed for spectra, but impossible to setup.

It requires its own RSS, which is not available at all... Gaitronics manufactured these units, and had issues with Motorola which led to them discontinuing support for all Motorola branded gai-tronics items. Subsequently, they came out with similar looking remotes under their own name, and they continue to.

If it is an RCH3000, however, (probably black), it is for ast0r spectra and doesn't require any external programming... it works off of the W9 consolette. I think yours is probably used with an A9 Consolette. Either way, a special interface in the specific consolette goes between the deskset and the radio.

I've never been able to get the RCH3000 I bought a year or so ago to interface properly with the W9 Consolette.... it seems useless unless you have exactly the right parts, and there are a number of them to collect.

Thanks for the reply!! It is beige and could very well be from gai-tronics. I am guessing the radio would need another board as well? I could find nothing on the gai-tronics site but there were a couple of products with an "L" model number, so I think you're spot on with your assessment.

Good thing I didn't spend much for it!!
