Hi - I have an XTS5000 model 2(not an 123abc...) - host/dsp R11 - with an impres battery and charger (V3.40) - I have enabled the "battery " in the menu list - it shows in the display of the radio - but the values are not displayed - only dashes where there are supposed to be numbers! Also no battery indicator in the corner of the display - can anyone help me here how to fix that.
Best Regards
Kenneth

Did you purchase the battery new from Motorola, and do you know it to have been initialized properly on a real impres charger? Conducting the first charge cycle on a non-impres charger will render the impres technology out of service permanently.

I got it from Ebay - new in box - I charged it the first time on my V3.40 impres charger - but maybe someone have charged it before on an normal one...

You gotta watch those eBay batteries. If you get one from one of the authorized Motorola dealers there you can feel pretty safe, anybody else, buyer beware.

I bought a NiMh for a JEDI a few months back for unbeliveable low price, advertised as "Brand New". I got the thing, looked brand new but it wouldn't take a charge. The box it came in smelled like Shinola shoe polish. I finally figured out the SOB who sold it KNEW it was bad. It had probably been returned as a defect. He put shoe polish on it and buffed it up to look good and sold it again! I got my money back and swore off eBay batteries from non-OEM sellers. eBay is full of mfgr. rejects and return merchandise.

Yeah, the battery probably needs a conditioning. You can force a conditioning by putting the battery in the charger, waiting a moment, then taking it out and putting it back in within 5 seconds. When you see the solid orange light then you know it's conditioning.

If that doesn't take care of it, then unfortunately you're probably SOL for getting the data on your radio.

I have some Impres ones that I know were brand new when I got them and the battery meter never worked with them on my XTS5K. Bugged me a bit, but I got over it. I know that's not the case with everyone - just throwing in my $0.02

A year or so ago we received some XTS2500s. As I recall we got in ten and four batteries would not display. We sent them back and the replacements worked fine.

I just got a few batteries on ebay as well. They did the same thing on my xts5k. After 8 or so charges and discharges and 2 conditions, the info displays without failure now. I am working on doing the same with the other battery.
