Hi all,

Is there such a thing as a kit of buttons for the MCS2000 model III? I have a radio (control head on the radio body, not remote) and the buttons/keys are not the same as the standard radio. I'd like to get a set of button/key caps so I can program the radio I want, without having to tell people (firefighters) "Press 'Opt' when you want to scan, and press 'Sel' when you want to get into the Status menu..."

Second question - I've heard that there is an update beyond 5.02 for XTS CPS. I bought XTS CPS and MCS/MTS CPS from MOL earlier this year, ordering RVN4182V and RVN4177V. I evidently didn't get a subscription, because when I go to subscriptions on my MOL account (Resource Center>Software Support>View Subscriptions), I get nothing found. I had heard on here that 5.02.01 (or whatever the update is for XTS CPS) is only downloadable from MOL. Am I looking in the wrong place, or have I not set up my account right? I would've thought if they sold me the product that I would have the right license/subscription to get updates & downloads - am I wrong?

You need to call MOL on the phone and ask why you can't see the update page for that RSS. It is not uncommon
for them to screw it up and not put you in to have access to the data. Have had that happen to me on most of
the RSS I have bought. It just takes a couple of calls for them to get the account set right.

Call MOL. I had the same problem a couple of months back, called them and they straightened it out within 48 hours.

I am unaware of a button "kit" for MCS2000 (which doesn't mean it doesn't exist), but there are a zillion combinations. Get yourself a copy of the MCS2000 install manual (68P02058U20-G). In the back is a matrix of all of the graphics (and colors) available for each of the five different sized buttons for an MCS control head, with part numbers as well as diagrams showing what size button goes where on each of the M-I, M-II and M-III heads.

While you're at it: Motorola sells a special tool for removing these buttons. I've never seen one face-to-face; I'm aware that some folks use a pair of mini-end nippers, but I just use two 1/8" slotted screwdrivers. The tabs that hold the buttons in are a bit fragile.
