MT1500 QC II alert tone

Hope I'm in the right area of the board here.
For years my agency has used VHF models of the MT1000, then the HT1000, with the QC-II decoding, for alerting our volunteers. Now, of course, we need to purchase some new radios. We've been evaluating the MT1500.
Problem is, QC-II decoding (at least for us) on the MT1500 doesn't give much of an alert tone. In fact all you get is a soft little "beep-beep", which itself is volume-dependent. Then the radio opens and you hear voice.
My vendor reports he can't find in the RSS, how to change that setting for the alert tone. In the HT/VISAR RSS it's right there (we have it)...any idea where it is for this model?
If we can't get an alert tone, the volunteers won't wake up during the night.
Thanks for any and all advice.
