Astro Main Standby Switching

Does anyone know of an easy way to do Main / Stby switching with 2 Quantars and AstroTac 3000 voter. I want to maintain the individual digital link testing and the 2 receiver's voting capability but just have either the main or the standby's transmit portion switched. I'm using external 9.6k modem links in this configuration.

If your repeater sites are connected to the voter site with channel banks, you could use E&M signaling to control the active transmitter. Set the E&M cards at the repeaters to give dry contact closure outputs, then connect those to a wildcard input on each quantar. Program the input for transmit inhibit.

That way you can hava a control switch at the comparator or on the dispatch console connected to the corresponding E inputs to allow you to remotely select one active transmitter.

If both the main and the standby are on the same voter, program the main and standby for 2x channels in each, both channels have RX frequencies. Main gets a TX freq in F1, 0's for a TX freq in F2. Standby gets 0's for TX in F1 and the actual TX freq in F2. You then need to program the DIU with the apropriate function tones to swap between F1 and F2, coded or clear (if you're using encryption) as well.

You will also need to add the apropriate function tones to the console to enable the DIU to swap the Quantars to the apropriate modes.

OK, thank you, I knew there was probably a trick I did not think of. We don't have the DIU portion yet but I will try what you said when we receive it.
