Handhelds? OEM.
I have (and I'll only grudgingly admit to it...) used zip wire and clip leads before, but this is NOT NOT NOT the recommended method.

Best: Motorola thingie that's as big as the radio and clips on the radio's back.
Next Best: Aftermarket thingie that velcros to the back of the radio.
Worst: Clip leads from the RIB to the back of the radio.
If you're searching around with friends, hamfests, etc., remember that it's the same
setup that's used for the GP300 and P110 radios for programming.

That being the case,
Polaris Industries makes a decent substitute. I borrowed one a couple of times for the one GP300 I owned.
Whether or not it's any cheaper than Motorola OEM, I couldn't tell you...

The Polaris GP300 programming interface works on the same
principle as the Motorola in that it has "ears" that fit the back
of the radio chassis just like the battery does. However, its
cost is probably 'way, 'way under Motorola's, assuming that
Motorola still makes their unit.
