I don't get any audio and it wont program. I beleive that when it was installed it used an ignition sense
wire but I don't have one of those. could this be the problem?

are you using a legit RIB & wire combo? There are some active threads about programming MCS2000s with shitey Polaris boxes and fake cables (a la kawa)

Do you have an 25 pin connector installed in it? To have audio you either connect the speaker there to 1 and 3, or put a jumper in between 1 and 2 to use the internal if its a model 1 or the one in the control cable if its remote mount. Oh and in that 25 pin, theirs also a jumper from emergency to ground that needs to be there.

MCS's are very very picky about voltage when being programmed. Make sure your RIB has a fresh battery OR even better, a AC adapter.

I had a MCS that had very very low audio on receive. Turned out to be an tuning issue. Also, the radio may be set up for audio from the accessory connector or from the remote mount cable depending on the jumper connections. I didn't know this and just happened to try audio from the accessory connector on my latest radio and it worked fine. Don't assume you're gonna get audio out of the remote cord just because the speaker plug is there.

Also, make sure the emergency pin is grounded. I'm not sure of the exact jumper connection, but it can be found on the programming cable diagram on batlabs (acc connector only). It is MUCHO MUCHO IMPORTANTE that you do this. Attempting to use the radio without this connection can and will damage the radio (or so Motorola says).

Try checking out the accessory connector on the bottom and seeing what pins you have attached. If there's no adapter in the connector (it's a 25 pin black plastic thing) don't even turn the radio on.

The department I bought it from couldn't find it I will see if I can locate one as I obviously need it

Any fail or error codes pop up on the display on power up?

none just no audio and won't program!

i had the same problem and the cause was a short in the audio amp, replaced it and works great now.

I got the DB25 connector today and installed it....what do you know I have sound now! Now all i need is a good programming cable and i'll be all set....over to the FS forum!

Without the jumper in place, for either an internal speaker, or for an external speaker, you will get a fl 01/79 IIRC, but, that does not matter now as your connector fixed the problem.

Actually it's not the lack of speaker connections which gives that error, but the emergency jumper. Pin 9 needs to be jumpered to either Pin 4, or Pin 10. Either one will give it a proper ground. Without that jumper, the radio generally gives the "01/79" error, but not 100% of the time!

While it is correct that this directly relates to the emergency jumper, something comes to my mind, my school notes tell me that that FC says to check that jumper... but, experience in the field says different, when plugging one of the radios in without the speaker, 99.999999999% of the time, I get that FC, past that I don't know what to say other than I am glad to hear you got your problem taken care of with a simple part.
