I am having no luck getting the national mutual aide channels programmed into some mtx -8250's it seems to be just a bit to high for the limits of the software. I get an outside parameters warning when i try to program in 866.0125 or anything close to it. I'm using the latests cps. Is there anthing that can be done? I suppose I could contact M and see if theres a flash or upgrade or something we could buy. We want to interface our Fire department with the cities on the interop freq's but the MTX 8250 doesnt want to go there, it will go to the low 860's only not 866. Any Suggestions?

Thats because the mtx8250 is a privacy plus radio, not a smartnet radio. Its is not meant for public safety use, so it does not allow you to go to the 821 freq's which is where the mutual aid freq's are. I'm not sure if you could trick it by editing the cps or not.

buy a public safety radio such as an XTS2500. if your FD lets you use equipment not designed for the job, they are playing with fire, no pun intended. I seriously doubt Ma M is going to "reflash" your low end PP radio into a Smartnet public safety radio, but who knows...send it to Mexico maybe you'll get a 2500 in return.

Depending on what part of the country you are in, the new, rebanded mutual aid channels are in the 851 to 853 range, which that radio will do, so if your area is getting rebanded in the very near future, it may be usable.

i'm not positive someone correct me if i'm wrong but you may need to get a mtx in the 900 range, i think those will go down that low? or keep it handy for the reband.

I guess it can't be done then. The refinery is on an 800 mhz privacy plus system and we have been trying to get the interop frequencies programed into our volunteer firefighters radios which use the refinery system so that when the city trucks come out, they can go to the call frequency, I guess the allocated frequecies are useless to us.Thanks for the advice.

I am going to see if I can get the mtx-8000 to go there, I think I'll try a B-7. Other wise I will have to buy some seperate radios for the interop freq's. Any reccomedations there??
