Hello :
Just got with a Mt1000 lo band portable with a Motorola Alkaline battry pack #NTN4870B
No charge contacts or anyway to open the battery pack from what i can see.
Battery looks like new old stock and does power up the radio and txs ect.
My qestion is what is the battery life on one of these ?
Can it be opened and new batts be put in such as 10 AAcells ect ?
Or was it a one time toss batt pack ?
Thank you

The Alkaline battery pack is sealed. Made for one time use, and then to the recycle bin.
They do last longer, but are only designed to operate the radio at two watts.

MT1000, HT600, P200 series radios are designed for 10 volt batteries, eight cells. The Alkaline is 12 or so volts, but loads down to ten volts.
Cut-off voltage is eight volts, the radios do not work on any lower voltage.
