Hi Rose KVL Cable Question

Hello All,

I have a fairly simple question for everyone (I think)..I have a T3011DX Keyloader with the standard HI Rose cable and a Spectra adapter which works great. As you all know..a few secure spectras are never enough..so I am now in need of being able to load Jedi Series Radios as well as Sabers.......My question - Will the standard Jedi/Saber Hi Rose adapters like you find on fleebay for speaker mics (the shoe portions) work with my Keyloader cable to give me the appropriate connections, or do I need to buy the individual cables with the connectors already pre-assembled? Along the same line, is there a keyloading specific adapter? Does anyone have part #'s?

Thanks

As far as Sabers are concerned, the cheapo Saber to Hirose adaptor (found for less than $20) will work for keyloading using the existing Keyloader to Hirose cable you're using with your Spectra to Hirose adapator.

As far as using cheapo Speaker Mics to build your own radio specifc cables, they usually don't have enough pins in place to move around to get the correct pin out for keyloading, at least as far as the Kawa-Krap is concerned...

Actually, it needs to be one of the ones with a 'D' stamped/engraved on it. These aren't usually any more expensive but just something one needs to know when shopping.

I have a "Medussa" cable that I use with my KVL3000 Plus. It's my hirose (Expo) with all of the adapters that you mentioned, but all of my adapters are Motorola. I built my own MX/STX/KVL Share adapter out of an old MX speaker mic end. Ages ago at Dayton somebody had a bag full of Expo hirose replacements, so I bought them and made all kinds of KVL goodies for my T3011DX - including remote KVL ports for well concealed radios.

On another note about the Saber adapters: I have a butt-load of them, and not all are "D's". There are more than a few different flavors of them, but if you have one that has all of the pins in place under it; it will most likely work as a KVL adapter. I've even had a few that were ones without all of the pins, but some of them worked, as well. I don't have an explaination for this; but, it's sort of "Pot Luck Picks". In other words, just because it isn't a "D", don't chunk it and automatically assume that it won't work. I was surprised, too!

Thanks for the info all. I may not have been specific enough in my first post (tends to happen at 3 AM) but for the jedi stuff I wasnt referring to making one out of a speaker mic, I was talking about the Hi Rose shoe with the port that is used for accessories such as speaker mics etc. that costs about 70 bones from mother /\/\. After reading your responses however, I am sure it will work the same as the SABER.
