Spectra repeater

Post by courvillelpd »

Does anyone know if you can connect two spectra's together to make a repeater, if so is there any hardware or wiring diagrams to show how this is done. One of my radio's is an A4 and one is an A9

Spectra's are not a very practical "home brew" project. Maxtrac's are a bettter option. See the Astro forum stickies on just such a topic. There are also LOTS of low cost interfaces on eBay - ranging from next to nothing - up to around $100.00 or so, depending on how many bells and wistles you want.

Motorola makes a Spectra briefcase repeater, which I own; that are trickling out of the military about now. They tend to be rather pricey - even on the used market, and you have to have the special software, along with the conventional Spectra software to program it. Shy away from the UHF ones, because they're alomst always low split, which creates even more of a hassel.
