Regular and Systems Saber board identification

Post by saberjerk »

Is there any way on earth to tell the difference between a regular saber mainboard and a Systems saber mainboard?
Motorola parts ID can't do it. Not without a model number sticker on them.
There aren't any other id numbers on them that I can tell.
I have the manuals for the radios and without number stickers or numbers stamped on them that's no help.

So what the heck am I suppose to do?

I am relying on the vast expertise of the members of this board.

thanks in advance

I've got a Saber II and a Systems Saber III opened up in front of me right now, and I only see about three parts different between them. However, those three could be because the Systems Saber III is secure-capable, while the Saber II isn't. I'd say it's very possible that the firmware is the only difference.

Yes this is very baffling. All I can think to do is put them in a chassis and see which rss will talk to them.
Interesting that motorola has no clue. But I guess that's nothing new.

Well I guess this is one way to do it. I've had 3 read as regular saber and one as a systems saber. One won't read either way.

A system saber main board has both green and red leds. A saber board has only the red led installed.
