Trunk radio protocal standard for recording

Post by chardj »

I am trying to learn more about how to record a digital trunk radio system for 911. I need to understand the interface, signaling, etc... I work for AudioCodes and we are interested in building an interface for our customers so they can easily record the communication but I'm having difficulty finding information.

I believe I'm looking for information related to the Astro series.

Anything involving a digital trunking system is going to be complicated. Trying to explain how to build a multi-channel logger for a digital radio system could fill several binders. Recovering audio from a properly-programmed and properly-flashed XTL-series radio shouldn't be a big trick. If you're talking about interfacing to the system itself (trying to log call alerts, private calls, anything fancy), your company needs to have a long talk with Motorola.

Wouldn't it have been easier to just say go %$@! yourself instead of writing a long winded useless response. Who would have thought to try and call Motorola directly. Your wisdom and advice is overwhelming.

Thanks for nothing!!!

First off, don't expect to breeze in here, having just this day registered, and post with the expectation that the community here is going to do your job. If your company is interested in developing an airlogger solution for a P25 trunked network, then your company will need to request copies of the specifications for both the P25 trunking standard and the equipment you intend to interface your unit with. Once your company has that information in hand, then if they have any engineer worth their salt it should be a straightforward (notice I didn't say simple) matter.

And may I suggest next time when someone gives you a reality check, that cussing them out would not be the best of ideas.
