Dual Head VHF Hi Power System

Any suggestions on the above radio ?? Customer needs 100 watt VHF dual head. Can not afford Mot or Ma/Com hi end radios.

Heard the Kenwood TK 690 series, Vertex VX 5500 series are good radios. What about CDM with IDA dual control and external amp ?

Any experience with these.

Thanks.

Motorola PM1500 Dual Control Head?

I'd avoid CDM with Dual control head + power amp. The cost will exceed a PM1500.

Not sure on the kenwood or vertex line.

I would look at the TK 690. They work great, and we have a lot of them out in the filed, and they are a solid radio.

If the customer does not mind used, you can pick up the drawers for under $200.00 on Ebay.

Thanks. I have heard nothing but positive comments on the Kenwoods. Mot. use to be this way, no longer.

If you want a 110 Watt Vertex Radio its going to be the VX-6000, The VX-5500 was a 50 Watt Radio. The Vertex Radio's Are not that bad, But just Watch the Total Length of Control Head cable, if its over 40 Feet Total your going to have some problems with the radio locking up and doing some funky things, i know from experience.

PM1500 is the little brother to the XTL5000.
