Are early XTL5000 700/800MHz capable?

Post by Leadenwah »

Did thee early model XTL5000, such as Model radios come with 700/800MHz
capability? This is the first series which uses the W5, W7
control heads.

Slow down, your words are all jumbled there!

The original XTL5000s did support 700/800.
Lowband radio. The original and non-complicated wide area interoperable communications system

PJ.

I honestly don't know what happened. It looks like someone
else got hold of my comment. I guess I pasted it from my
e-mail window and something went wrong.

Thanks for answering my rather convoluted question.

While yes the early XTL5000's, along with the 2500's, the bandplans changed during the course of the public safety 700 MHz shuffle and may not work correctly as the broadband and narrow band areas moved in the spectrum.

Off hand I don't know the exact date that the change occured in the firmware, but to be sure it would probably be worth doing a $75.00 refresh to 12.00.00 firmware.
