Audio level on CommandStar Lite consoles

I have a set of CDM1550LS+ radios connected to a CommandStar Lite console with DCMs. I have the detect threshold in the CSDM set all the way to -32 dB, and although all mobile units hear each other fine, the dispatchers are reporting that occasionally the audio will not come out through the console. Are there any other places to look for volume control on the radios or the console?

Did you ever find a resolution with your audio issue?
I am attempting to research similar problem with 1550 LS+ mobiles using the digital control on a CommandStar Lite thru a digital junction box....customer supposedly verifed that a parallel MC deskset does not experience same issue, and the console logging ports confirm the issue and that it is not dispatcher error. :o

There is no adjustment of the discriminator audio for the CDM radio, other than switching it between "flat" and "filtered".

I haven't worked with DCM's before, so I'm not much help otherwise. Is there provision in the CommandStar Lite to change the call detect method form VOX to COR? I know there is for CCM's. IF so, you could pull COR from one of the programmable pins in the CDM and feed it into the console for unmuting.

Not sure just how your hooking up the CDM radios to work with the console, there are a couple of points,
that you might consider.

1. There is a fixed audio out on the CDM radios on pin 11. Major point to remember is that this pin doesn't
like to be tied to ground through a transformer. Cap couple it. Audio level is fixed and not controlled by
the volume control.

2. If your connecting the receive audio from the speaker output wires, you don't want to ground either side.
The volume level will be controlled by the volume control.

3. If your TX audio from the console is low on the CDM TX, there is a software (RSS) setting to change
that increases the external mic gain. You might want to also look into this. You also need to cap
couple the TX audio from the console going to the CDM radio to pin 2.
