XTL2500 Headset Option for dispatch in a fieldcomm situation

Post by alex »

I'm looking for an off the shelf solution for the XTL's that will allow dispatchers to simply plug in their centracom style headsets into the radios and use them as they do their dispatch consoles. I understand this may change how they use PTT (no foot pedals), or possibly another headset solution setup in the vehicle itself.

What are people out there using to meet this requirement? The guy I'm helping out suggested phone handsets but I don't see dispatchers sitting there while the channel is idle holding the handset to their ears. The positions are close together so I would think that having some level of audio isolation would be best.

Ideas/suggestions/thoughts welcome. We do have a somewhat tight deadline since the vehicle will be used on a drill in a couple of weeks. Additionally we would like to find an "off the shelf" type solution where we can order the parts and do it ourselves, or have someone install it if need be.

The fieldcomm was made by LDV (should that make any difference).

Ask mr.syntrx, he probably knows more about them.

You can download their schematics if you want to build one yourself.
