I have had a MT1000 since '90. I haven't had any trouble with it until I moved to another state and joined a VFD near my home. I reprogrammed with new freqs but didn't have the PL's so I left them as open channels. I later programmed with the PL's, but I lost the power up beep, but I think everthing was working fine. Later I tried to change the QCII to tone activate the radio, but after I read the program and was changing the QCII data. I noticed the back of the radio was getting hot (one of the screws that holds the belt clip on) so I turned off the radio. Now the radio will not power up at all. I noticed the fuse on the bottom of the radio was blown (check with meter). Is there any thing that programming the data could blow the fuse? Where can I get a replacement fuse? Any help or ideas will greatly helpful. Thanks for any help.

this sounds like a hardware failure, not a programming problem. The back of the radio getting hot sounds like a PA failure, and the blowing of the fuse supports this. As the MT1000's are over 20 years old, it's about time for things like this to happen. Good news is you can probably find a replacement one for less than 50 bucks these days.
