Anyone have an archived copy of the KB article on Spectra Hacking and Spectras in general?
Already reviewed the Jaymz site, OnFreq site, Repeater Builder and the Batlabs info...
Already PM'd PJ; no joy.
Thanks in advance

I'll fetch it out of the database if you'd like - but if you search I think there's still the original topic floating around on it.

I've ran through the article a few times but the context was somewhat messed after all of the "bovine stealer" removals/edits... I thought the article was slightly more streamlined but it's been so long since I've read it and the printed copy I had gained legs, I could be completely wrong.
Any help would be appreciate though

Let me see what I can do. If I don't get to it in the next day or so and you don't have the info, PM me and remind me to update this thread w/it.

Trust me, there was no useful information contained in the cowthief posts & the responses to them...I double checked before removing them just to make sure. It shortened the thread by at least 20 posts.

Oddly enough, I kinda remember that same "usefulness" with the majority of his rants... Oh well...
Either way, it's good to see the KB is not entirely lost or forgotten - I'd love to see it return and hopefully contribute once it's back in its old glory...

I too would like to see the KB return... and would very happily donate the content on my website for it as well. At least that way I no longer need to host it. That is of course as long as I get appropriate credit <smile>
And really, I only put that together because of the fact that the general statement made to people at that point when they wanted to do some bit banging on their Spectra it was said that "If you don't know what you are doing... you are guaranteed a brick for a radio" when in fact that is not necessarily true. My goal was for a nice little "You can do it". And besides all of the more complicated topics were already covered.
So if my stuff made it into the KB all the better for everyone else... it is all in one location for everyone to enjoy.

Jaymz -
Your quick reference page has been invaluable in the past - the screen shots alone are unheard of practically anywhere else "legitimately" found on the web...
And it's very well possible to brick a radio - in this process I managed to brick a NOS 6.15 MLM... It's amazing how one key stroke is the difference between getting what you want and getting nothing at all.

It certainly is possible to brick a radio... I have bricked several myself with some "I wonder what would happen if". But my point is that with a little help and some due diligence BitBanging should not be something to be afraid of.
Otherwise I am glad that it has been useful in the past. That is the main reason why I have left it where it is for so long. Just in case of the remote possibility that someone may want to reference it. Which is precisely what this board was about for a long time...

The KB section is a slow work in progress...
Apparently the person(s) who created the phpBB add-on isn't interested in making it compatable with this current version of phpBB (last I heard a few months back).
Some of the ASTRO ones should be coming online similar or intergrated to the "Product Information" sticky's that I have created in the past. Just a slow process.

Then why not redirect the efforts to creating or searching out another solution? Can't be that hard to do...
